I started out making jewelry and gradually taught myself techniques such as macramé, glass bead making and silk ribbon dyeing. Later I discovered the art of painting mandalas on stones, and it opened up a whole new world for me. Painting a mandala stone feels calming and almost meditative, and I still love playing with color and finding harmony in unexpected combinations.

From there I began making bags from fabrics and materials that could be reused or given a new purpose. That eventually led me to barkcloth from Uganda, a remarkable plant-based material made from the bark of the Mutuba tree. The bark is harvested in a way that allows the tree to continue growing and regenerate its bark. I fell in love with its warm, leather-like texture, its natural imperfections and the story behind it.

Today, each of my handmade barkcloth and upcycled bags is created as a one-of-a-kind piece. Reusing materials where possible, working on a small scale and choosing materials with an interesting story are an important part of how I create.

Boho for Life has grown over the years, but the idea behind it is still the same: color, creativity and designs with a personal, unconventional feel.
