The Heart Behind Boho for Life
My name is Gildine, and I’m the maker behind Boho for Life. I design and handcraft everything myself, from bark- cloth bags to hand-painted jewelry. I’ve always loved color, natural textures, and creating things that feel real and personal. Every piece in my shop carries a bit of that: simple, honest, and made with care.
My Creative Journey
I started out making jewelry and slowly taught myself many different techniques, macramé, glass bead making, silk ribbon dyeing, and more.
One day I discovered the art of painting mandalas on stones, and it opened up an entirely new world for me. I’ve always loved working with color and finding harmony in combinations. Creating a mandala stone brings a quiet focus; it’s a moment of calm that feels almost meditative.
From there, I began making bags using materials I could reuse or repurpose. It’s such a joy to find a forgotten piece of fabric or texture and imagine what it could become.
That’s how I came across bark cloth from Uganda, a rare, plant-based material that’s carefully harvested without harming the Mutuba tree. I instantly fell in love with its story, its texture, and its connection to nature.
Today, I’m proud to be the only artisan in the world creating bohemian-style bags from this extraordinary material.
I believe in reusing materials whenever possible, it’s a simple way to care for the earth and reduce our footprint.
With Boho for Life, I try to do my part by creating pieces that are mindful, sustainable, and made to last.
